We approached Des to design the renovation of a farmhouse in the Mournes, needing someone to capture our broad vision and translate it into something on paper that would wow us when done. The project itself had certain challenges. The house was right on a site boundary, as was an adjacent barn which we wanted to integrate but wasn’t aligned with the house. Parts of the building were nearly 200 years old, and we wanted to sympathetically capture its history as much as possible. And of course, we wanted to achieve this without spending all of our children’s inheritance! Des was able to skilfully navigate through these challenges, suggesting solutions and patiently listening to our own ideas, and all with a calm and pragmatic approach. We are delighted with the elegant and stunning end result. We have already recommended Des to others, and would be happy to do so again.
